THE ASPEN CLUB & SPA FACILITATES INNAGURAL YOUNGER NEXT YEAR RETREAT

Best-selling authors work with health and fitness experts to create comprehensive wellness retreat

Aspen, CO–  The Aspen Club & Spa will facilitate a six day retreat this month based on the best selling book, Younger Next Year. Participants will receive training, coaching and nutritional advice from best-selling authors as well as various experts in the wellness field.

Co- authors of the Younger Next Year books, Chris Crowley and Harry S. Lodge, M.D., will focus on the core concepts of the science of aging to facilitate a week of strength and endurance building, fitness assessments, wellness coaching, hiking, nutritious meals and spa pampering. The retreat will take place May 31-June 6, 2009 in Aspen, Colo.

“Heavy on exercise, nutrition and the limbic (emotional) life—it’s a fancy spa week with a ferocious, Younger Next Year spin. Slightly hard work, a lot of learning and great food and drink, “ said Crowley.

The authors will work with the director and founder of The Aspen Club & Spa’s Sports Performance Center, Bill Fabrocini and his expert team of teachers, speakers, doctors and health experts. Fabrocini is a board-certified clinical specialist in orthopedic physical therapy and a certified strength and conditioning specialist who has trained and worked with world class athletes.

The book, Younger Next Year, gives readers a plan to eliminate 50 percent of all illness and potential injuries as they age—and teaches how to become functionally younger every year for the next 5-10 years. The week begins by establishing a personal base for each participant—examining flexibility, strength, stamina, weight and more.  From there, each participant will learn how to log efforts and progress, as well as have the opportunity to follow up with a personal wellness coach.

The coaches and trainers will also focus on emotional and social side of your life for the next thirty years. They will help participants with the mind-body connection and will customize their approach to the individual client’s needs.

This retreat is the first of its kind for The Aspen Club and participants will shape the future of the program. It will be offered at a half price rate of $4,000 (or $7,000 for a couple) which includes healthy meals throughout town and lodging at the historical Hotel Jerome.

Space is limited for the retreat. Call Kim Moore for more details and to sign up. (970) 920-5861 or kmoore@aspenclub.com.

Dip, Dive, Dodge and Dominate

April 20th, 2009

Deep in the heart of Aspen, under the expansive balloon of The Aspen Club’s tennis bubble, ten teams suited up in their best sweats to show the town just how much hard work and dedication will get you…$100 gift card to Cantina.

Saturday was one for the record books when the Long Johns won multiple games in a row before being crowned the ultimate champions of The Aspen Club’s Semi-annual Off Season Dodgeball Tournament. After defeating the club’s own Spa Pimps in the finals, the team celebrated by spraying their sparkling wine trophy all over the court that had seen some intense dodgeball action for three hours that afternoon.

The winners were given a $100 gift certificate to The Cantina and were spotted there 15 minutes later spending their prize. They were joined by some of the 2nd place Spa Pimps team members as well as the winners of best costume, the Please Hit Me’s.

The games were often intense and besides a couple of bloody knees and a black eye or two, fun was had by all!

- Removal of dead skin and calluses alleviates uneven pressure when you walk or stand eliminating pain throughout your day.
- Foot reflexology stimulates blood flow to the feet and legs.
- Foot massage encourages overall health improvement anywhere in the body.
- Certain scents and oils can be beneficial for improving circulation, focus, memory and mood.
Finish off your salon trip with a paraffin dip on your hands and feed. A great way to get rid of winter skin and create a nice glow for summer.

What is the challenge?

The Aspen Club & Spa would like to challenge you to step up your fitness routine.  If you are currently working out three days a week, why not challenge yourself to do four days a week?  If you have been struggling to get into the gym at all, why not challenge yourself to come in two days a week?  It is all up to you and what you would like to do for yourself.  Why not put a financial challenge to it?  If you miss a workout, donate to a charity.  Challenge your friends to step it up!

How does it work?

Purchase a bid sheet from an Aspen Club & Spa representative.  Commit to the number of days you will work out each week.  Pledge a dollar amount that you will give to charity for each day you miss (minimum $5).

The Aspen Club will post your pledge sheet on the wall for all to see.  Each time you come in to work out, get a star from the front desk to mark your pledge sheet.  The challenge will run April 1st through May 31st.

  • 1 in 55 men and women will be diagnosed with Melanoma–the deadliest form of skin cancer.
  • Long-term effects of UVA rays include premature aging and wrinkles.

Tan the safe way…at The Aspen Club! Call for more details and to book an appointment in our salon.
