Cup of Tea
I read an article the other day that claims that Tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world, second to water. We’ve read about the “benefits” of teas- black, red, and green. They all they all contain polyphenols which give tea its antioxidant properties, and antioxidants may help protect our bodies from free radical damage. But there are even more benefits-researchers are finding that teas can help in fighting Cancer (ovarian, skin and esophogeal) and can prevent blood clotting and lower cholesterol. That is pretty amazing. I’d guess most Americans prefer a cup of joe over tea, as tea is more popular in European and Asian cultures. But think about this, one cup of tea has about half the caffeine as a cup of regular coffee. I havent even mentioned “herbal” teas, which can come from roots, vegetables, flowers and herbs-all containing some kind of healthful benefit. The longer tea steeps the stronger its potential. Teas are also used in skin care products, as mentioned in past blogs. The bottom line is tea is good for you, so consider switching it up and ordering a Ginseng tea or Jasmine Green tea the next time you go for that Americano or Vanilla Latte.
