Independence Pass closed last night around 9 PM and as of 1:40 today, crews had moved all the snow off the roadway (about 1.5 feet had accumulated). They also had to “punch” through a 15 foot drift, which is typical for these windy conditions at the very top of the pass. Right now, visibility is the concern. Crews hope to re-open the pass by 3, but this is not a certainty.
