The Start of a NEW YEAR!!!

Hello all,

As you can see I was able to have the privilege of the Aspen Club and Spa set me up with a blog of my own. My trainer Tom spoke to Sarah about placing me in “People” magazine which is a once in a lifetime chance for me. Nothing exciting really ever happens in my life. So I figured ‘hey why not, this is my chance to show everyone that they too can be motivated by a “real” person. Not an actor or actress that just wants to lose 5-10 measly pounds.’  Since I was excited about the whole idea, Sarah also mentioned to me about a blog and how you all can keep track of my results and weight loss adventure through my 3 months in the Law Enforcement Academy. This Sunday I leave to set up my dorm room. I must say… this might be my longest 3 months ever. Aspen Club and Spa is very much like my second home. I will deeply miss all the staff members who are always smiling at me and my trainer Tom… who always says “okay, ready”, when I walk in for a good workout.  I will be coming back on July 21 to do the 5K run/walk with my trainer in Aspen. We will most likely have lots to talk about. Every day I see him we always come up with something to either talk or joke about. I should set up a massage on Saturday before I head out for boot camp… HeHe…

Here is something for all of you:
Enjoy life to its’ fullest…live it day to day, not year to year.

Cycle happy hour

Cycle happy hour is a fun workout, it is a great way to burn calories and to build endurance . I’ve been told a person could burn up to 450 calories in an hour depending on the intensity. Most instructors are aware that one of the ways to boost overall calorie burn is interval training. You may not be able to exercise at 80 percent of your maximum effort for 30 minutes straight, but you can accumulate 30 mintues by breaking it into smaller intervals.

As you pedal, the instructor talks you through visualization of an outdoor cycling workout. During this class you vary your pace, sometimes pedaling as fast as you can, and then other times turning the tension up so much that you can only pedal by standing up. Even though you follow the general instructions of the teacher, however the class can become too intense, you can always pedal slower or bring the tension down.

Have fun pedalling…
