Dry Eyes
Thanks to the dry altitude that is Colorado, I’ve noticed a considerable amount of “aging” around my eyes since moving here. Sure it’s due to some previous sun damage and maybe shedding a tear over the years, and the fact that I am (gasp) getting older, but there is help for dry skin around the eyes. The skin around our eyes is most definitely the thinnest on the face and is extremely delicate, making it more susceptible to the elements. Wrinkles, crowsfeet, dryness. What’s a girl to do? First off, applying sunscreen when outside is a must. Secondly, using a gentle exfoiliant can help slough off dead skin and make the area around the eye look less dry. In addition, there are great products out there to soften skin and help repair previous damage. Products with hydrauloic acid are great, like Aspen Essentials nourishing eye creme. Serums are also full of moisture and work wonders, try Gingko-Green Tea Eye serum. There’s also the old standby of putting cool, sliced cucumbers on your eyes for a rest, although this isn’t always convenient. Lastly, there’s Vitamin E. Pierce open a capsule and apply a small amount of liquid Vitamin E to the area around the eyes. With some regular treatment, taking care of our dry eyes can be a routine well worth it. And in the end, a few crowsfeet, twinkle eye wrinkles and laugh lines never hurt.
